SBCA / La Cumbre Middle School

The community shows up at SBCA!

We are inspired by the warmth and community spirit at  SBCA and La Cumbre Junior High. At our first planting party, over 40 families came to plant baby oaks on an empty hillside. We got these in the ground just before the rains, they are happy baby trees! On this campus, we are working to reduce the lawn and create more shade where the kids play. The school district donated hundreds of native plants, and we are using them to fill in empty planters, create a Microforest and build soil! The kids see us on campus once a week and are eager to learn, help and share their plant knowledge. We get to hear them say things like, “thank you for the trees!” as they walk by … this is why we love our work! And this is just the beginning!
