San Marcos High School
A partnership with the student Sustainability Club
At San Marcos High School, we’re working closely with the Sustainability Club to host student-led planting parties, where around 30 students come together to help restore the edge of a drainage ditch with native plants. We’re also working with the royal pride foundation and the district to create a native perimeter hedge that will serve as a beautiful, low-cost alternative to fencing that adds both security and habitat to the campus. Where possible, we’re removing grass and planting oaks to increase shade and create informal gathering spaces. We are also working with the Special Ed class to transform a bare concrete patio into a welcoming space with more seating, greenery, and native plantings to attract birds and spark curiosity.
