Montecito Union School
The Nature Lab project brings native plants right outside classrooms
At Montecito Union School, we’re continuing to develop the Nature Lab by building healthy soil and planting more California natives in areas where they’ll thrive. We are spreading the native plant palate to the rest of the campus as well. The whole community is learning the importance of using local plants and lots of mulch to help cool nearby buildings, reduce glare, and provide food and shelter for local bird species — giving students more opportunities to engage with nature right outside their classrooms.
